For 20 years now, The Gift of Giving Back has been inspiring youth to step up, give back, and make a difference. What started with a little red wagon and a dream has grown into one of Canada’s largest community food drives. Together with schools, sports teams, community groups, and generous donors, we’ve collected millions of pounds of food for local agencies, helping families right here at home.
The 2025 Campaign was recently featured in a segment on CHCH News. Click the play button to watch the broadcast.
Youth volunteerism is opportunity.
💡 Opportunity to build leadership.
❤️ Opportunity to learn compassion.
🤔 Opportunity to understand the needs within our own communities.
When young people are given the chance to step up and lead, something powerful happens. They begin to see that their actions, at any age, can create real change.
At The Gift of Giving Back, we let youth lead the charge, helping collect food and funds that support families across our community.
And the values they build today stay with them for life. 🌟
Know a young person who would love to make a difference? Share this with them!

“It’s a good learning experience on why you should give back to the community and help out others.”
We hear reflections like this often from youth volunteers, and it’s why this work matters so much. Food drives do more than collect food. They help young people build empathy, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to caring for others.
To every young person who steps up to lead, we see you and we are proud of you. Thank you to the @bghc_news for being a longtime partner with The Gift of Giving Back! 💙

What a privilege it is to give back.
To spend time volunteering alongside friends and teammates.
To see young people step forward with compassion and leadership.
To watch a community come together to support families facing food insecurity.
These moments remind us that giving back is not just about the food collected. It’s about the connections built, the lessons learned, and the pride young people feel when they realize the difference they can make.
To every youth volunteer, coach, parent, and community partner who helps make this work possible, thank you. Together, we are building a stronger, more caring community.

Every journey starts somewhere.
This photo takes us back to the early days, when Jean Longfield and a group of Burlington Eagles players helped collect food donations using a little red wagon. What started as a simple act of giving has grown into a movement powered by thousands of young people across our community.
For more than 20 years, youth have continued to lead with compassion, proving that small beginnings can grow into lasting change.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this story, from the very beginning to today.
