For 20 years now, The Gift of Giving Back has been inspiring youth to step up, give back, and make a difference. What started with a little red wagon and a dream has grown into one of Canada’s largest community food drives. Together with schools, sports teams, community groups, and generous donors, we’ve collected millions of pounds of food for local agencies, helping families right here at home.

Burlington’s creativity was on full display at Canstruction Junior 2025, hosted by the Burlington Food Bank!
Our Managing Director, Deb Hawke-Wende, was proud to serve as a judge, joining local leaders in celebrating the incredible designs and big hearts of the student teams who turned cans into works of art, all to support families across Halton.

The Gift of Giving Back has been named a @100_women_burlington Charity of Choice!
We are deeply grateful to 100+ Women Who Care Burlington for selecting The Gift of Giving Back as their Charity of Choice at last night’s meeting. Together, this incredible group of women is donating $10,000 to help us power our fall food drives and support families across Halton.
A heartfelt congratulations as well to our fellow finalists, @saveourscruff and the @alzheimer_society_bhnhh who each received a $1,000 contribution for the important work they do.
This community generosity is a reminder of what happens when we come together to lift others up. Thank you for helping us continue 20 years of #kidsfeedingkids. ❤️🤝

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to honour the children who never came home, the survivors, and the families and communities forever impacted by residential schools.
As an organization built on the power of kids feeding kids, this day holds deep meaning. We recognize that every child deserves safety, nourishment, and the chance to grow and thrive.
We also acknowledge that our work takes place on the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit Nation. We are grateful for the opportunity to share food and build community on this land, and we are committed to reconciliation.
