Oakville 2021 Holiday Food Drive
This is what a Christmas miracle looks like.
This past month, we have witnessed an overwhelming response from the Oakville community to compassionately help our most vulnerable. From high school students, youth sports teams, community members, and small businesses, to our partners and Oakville Place who graciously donated space to help us create a Holiday Food Drive Headquarters — kindness and compassion prevailed in 2021.
One can at a time. The community responded. Over three nights, compassionate young athletes and community members flooded our headquarters with bags and bags of food donations for our six beneficiaries: Kerr Street Mission, The Salvation Army, Food for Life, Compassion Society, Halton Women’s Place and the ROCK.
Together, we achieved the following remarkable numbers:
112,030 pounds of non-perishable food donations collected (including 32,000 pounds from Campbells Soup)
65 full bins brimming with food donations
103 athletic teams from the Oakville Rangers and OJHL Oakville Blades showed their team spirit
1,700+ players, coaches, parents & community members volunteered
We extend a huge thank you to John, Heidi, Margaret and David Langill for stepping up to spearhead and coordinate the Oakville Rangers and a special thank you to Ettridges and Daffy Dill the Clown for donating our larger-than-life Grinch who reminded us:
Christmas Day will always be
Just as long as we have we.
Welcome Christmas while we stand
Heart to heart and hand in hand.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Oakville! When you have a moment, grab a hot chocolate and enjoy this feature story on Your TV Halton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6VuFFYJvUs
Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday season and safe & healthy New Year!
